New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce Thanks Mike Boots for his Support of New Mexico’s National Monuments

The New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce (NMGCC) and Partnership for Responsible Business (PRB) send their best wishes and thanks to Mike Boots, who announced yesterday that he will be resigning as acting chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) in March.

Over the past three years, Boots has listened to concerns of New Mexicans about permanent protection of both the Rio Grande del Norte and Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monuments. Boots has done a superb job of examining these monument proposals and ultimately helping the White House act in establishing these majestic national monuments for future generations.

Erin Sanborn, Executive Director of the Partnership for Responsible Business said the following in response to the news of Boots’ resignation:

“New Mexicans are grateful that Mike Boots carefully weighed and then supported our case for New Mexico’s newest national monuments. Thanks to his efforts, local economies in Taos and Dona Ana counties will benefit from permanent protection of our public lands. Our children and grandchildren will be able to hike, hunt, camp, and fish and enjoy the cultural and natural resources those lands contain as we can today. We wish Mike Boots well on his next endeavor.”
